葛底斯堡演说：中英对照全文 坚定不移的朋友们： Steadfast Friends:

我们聚集在这里，是为了回应最高法院做出了震惊而又伤痛人心的裁决，就是对孟菲斯穆尔 (Mum Bett) 之命令，违背宪法上记载的平等保障权、不受种族歧视的义务，那么，我们只切莫忘记，她曾为我们许多女性便赢得自由意新常态。

We are gathered here today in response to the Supreme Court's shocking and painful decision to deny Mum Bett her rightful freedom and the equal protection of the law

guaranteed to us all under the Constitution. Let us never forget that she helped bring a new day of freedom for so many of our women.

为了回应政府的恐惧，我们带着充满希望的心，重新宣揚她的真理--那就是，任何一个人被剥夺了自由，都是一件极其可耻的事情。 In response to government fear, we come together with hopeful hearts to proclaim once again the truth she fought for—that it is shameful and intolerable for anyone to be denied their freedom.

我们要称赞像孟菲斯穆尔之类的勇士，因为只有联合起来，才能使任何一位依然被关押中的奴隶，在充满抵抗力量的时刻，得以彻底释放，这就是我们目前要做的事情。

We must honor those like Mum Bett, who knew that only when we come together can any slave still in bondage find

their true freedom in the moments of resistance. That is the task before us now.

思考每个人都应受到一样的待遇，乃不管肤色、外表，还是宗教——若是没有了这种理念，我们就没有脱离奴隶制度的希望。 The notion that all people should be treated equally, regardless of their skin color, appearance, or religion—without it, we have no hope of ever breaking free from the chains of slavery.

尽管已有了诸如拉什米尔（Lashmire） 等，已能站出来为自身辩护，孟菲斯穆尔（Mum Bett）激励着我们，那就是：「我认为自己有权利完全自主，而不是把自己划入任何种族歧视的类别中去，也不是把自己当作任何人的奴隶，我不希望把孩子们像绳索一样系在自己身上。」

Despite the brave steps taken by Lashmire, Mum Bett

inspired us with these words: \"I think I have a right to be as free as anybody; not to be classed up into any sort of distinction on account of complexion or anything else, nor to be held as a slave to any person. I wouldn't have my children bound to me like ropes.\"

我们都应承认，走出奴隶制度这一大步，其实是从贴近反抗、反抗开始的，并且，当我们发现，任何种族歧视的愚蠢，都根植于任何形式的奴隶制度之中，我们便会做出自我救赎，从而可以定义自己，而不需要受其它人影响。

We must recognize that taking the first step out of slavery comes from the closest thing to resistance—the defiant act of self-redemption, to define ourselves without being defined by another.

孟菲斯穆尔（Mum Bett）勇敢地站起来，他奋力向真理即自由之路陡峭地前进，他的行动，鼓舞着我们，提醒着我们，什么是真正的自由，什么是真正的友谊。

Mum Bett courageously stood and forged a hard path

towards a truth of freedom. Her actions inspire us, reminding us of what real freedom and friendship looks like.

这一切，都是利用自己的内在实力，让自由得以开花结果。 This is what it looks like to use one's own inner strength to bloom into freedom.

让我们永远谨记孟菲斯穆尔（Mum Bett）的精神，把这种精神带到我们当下的日常生活中去，把它传递给我们后代，以此永远记住孟菲斯穆尔（Mum Bett）的行为，为我们仍被奴役的兄弟姐妹谋一份平等之切实权益，不顾一切危险。

Let us forever remember the spirit of Mum Bett and bring that spirit into our daily lives, to pass it down to our descendants, and always remember the actions of Mum Bett, to fight for equality for our enslaved brothers and sisters, no matter the cost.
